About resilient shorelines

About resilient shorelines

People historically gravitate to cities and water – and major cultural centers are inseparably connected with the shore. Today these are the areas of hazard risks.

We see water wars, coastal squeeze, and land subsidence as consequences of mismanagement and lack of data.

These days urbanists, environmentalists, economists, city managers, and artists are involved in creating new approaches to our shores.

As a team of urbanists with over 10 years of experience we created this project to collect state-of-the-art knowledge on a complex issue of shoreline resilience. Since the climate changes are global, the drive towards “living with water” makes sense on the international level.

This platform - created with support of the Muskie grant for international education aims to contribute to professional collaboration across the boundaries.

As water doesn't know political boundaries, the open knowledge on resilience can bridge the gaps in understanding between conflicting interests.

We explore the topic through the stories of the wide range of actors – consciously or unconsciously modifying the patterns of the land on the edge.
